駅のホーム空間が持つ都市空間としての可能性に着目した。200mの閉じた施設を都市の地面の一部として読み替え、屋根と水勾配を変えて雨庭という機能を与え、公園と組み合わせて新たな街の玄関口とした。
敷地はかつて渋谷川が流れた谷に面する代々木八幡駅。雨庭となった駅ホームは、都市化で失われていた谷の見通しや、水が流れていた気配を伝える。街を分断する施設であった駅のホームは、様々な流れを受け止める開かれた地面として生まれ変わった。
I focused on the potential of the station platform space as an urban space. I converted the closed 200-meter facility into a piece of urban ground. I gave it the function of a rain garden by changing the roof and water slope, and combined it with a park to create a new gateway to the city.
The site is Yoyogi-Hachiman Station, which faces the valley where the Shibuya River once flowed. The station platform, which has been turned into a rain garden, conveys a perspective of the valley that has been lost due to urbanization, as well as signs of the water that once flowed through it. The station platform, once a facility that divided the city, has been reborn as an open ground that catches various flows.
