"Flood control techniques that enjoyed large flows brought stability to cities. On the other hand, these flood control technologies have promoted the forestation of rivers, and causing the small daily changes that nature has to offer to disappear.
In this work, I propose a new approach to the Hyakuma River, a man-made river in Okayama Prefecture that is becoming increasingly treed, using fixed weirs, a local flood control technology, to control treed areas and to capture and reveal the original river environment, from small daily changes in water level to large temporal changes in vegetation, in a water-friendly space."
