"This project, titled ""Water Knots,"" reconstructs urban rivers—once vital arteries now reduced to dividing ""walls"" by high levees—into connections that reunite the city. Focusing on the Old Nakagawa River at the intersection of three administrative wards, this proposal transforms the riverfront from a boundary line into a shared ""commons.""
The design introduces a water circulation system within Kameido Central Park, functioning as a recreational stream in fair weather and a flood retention basin during emergencies. Furthermore, by lowering the existing high levee by 50cm and reshaping it into a gentle, accessible slope, the intervention dissolves the physical and psychological barriers between the city and the water. This project reclaims the river as a ""knot,"" binding people and districts together once more."
