Daigo Town, located in the mountainous region of northern Ibaraki Prefecture, boasts rich natural landscapes and tourism resources, symbolized by the Kuji River and the Yamizo Mountains. However, the town faces challenges such as population decline, an increase in abandoned farmland, and forest degradation, leading to a significant decline in regional vitality.
In recent years, efforts have been made to develop long trails that utilize the abundant natural resources of northern Ibaraki.
In this context, this study explores the potential for new tourism, education, and environmental conservation by examining spaces where natural environments and human activities intersect, organically connecting mountain resources. The study focuses on the Washinosuyama Trail and the Kuji River floodplain as key sites for this exploration.
