隅田川は市街地の近くを流れる河川として、人々の生活と密接な関係にあった。しかし近代化に伴う生活の変化、河川の汚染、高潮や洪水などの水害を防ぐために防潮堤の整備が行われ、都市と河川の繋がりは希薄になった。そこで本提案では堤防空間を河川に対して垂直方向に設け河川と都市を結ぶ動線と堤防空間と重ねることで、河川と人々の関わる機会、人の滞在スペースを創出する、河川と都市の繋がりを生み出す堤防空間の提案を行う。
As a river flowing near urban areas, the Sumida River had a close relationship with people's lives. However, changes in lifestyles associated with modernization, pollution of the river, and the construction of seawalls to prevent flood damage such as storm surges and floods have reduced the connection between the city and the river. This proposal proposes a levee space vertically oriented to the river, creating opportunities for people to interact with the river and a space for people to stay, by overlapping the levee space and the flow line connecting the river and the city.
